Dan Varroney Named First Chief Executive Officer of ACG

Business Editors

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 13, 2005--Longtime National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) senior executive Daniel A. Varroney today assumes the role of CEO of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), the premier global association for professionals involved in corporate growth, corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions. Varroney brings deep experience in the areas of finance, membership, programming and leadership to his new position.

Most recently at NAM he served as Senior Vice President for the Field & National divisions and was a member of NAM's Senior Management Committee. "Over the last several years, ACG's unprecedented growth in membership and chapters has created momentum and excitement that continues to build," said Peter Coffey, ACG President and Partner at law firm Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.

"As the organization approaches 10,000 members in 48 chapters, the ACG Board recognizes the great opportunity to hire a well-regarded, high energy and visionary executive like Dan to lead the association forward." "Dan has the knowledge and skills to implement and share best practices throughout the ACG community and to position the organization for continued global expansion," Coffey continued.

"He understands ACG's value proposition and will help to ensure that ACG is regarded as the leading authority on corporate growth.

We are extremely pleased that Dan has agreed to be ACG's first CEO." At NAM for 23 years, Varroney's key responsibilities included overseeing the association's outside-Washington grassroots programs, recruitment of key leaders to the NAM Board of Directors and Executive Committee, maintaining NAM's dues revenue base and revenue growth among small, medium and large member companies throughout the United States.

He led a national membership team of 54 staff and $23 million in revenues and drove the recruitment of high-level leadership to its board to support NAM's mission. "ACG is a potent vehicle to help companies achieve growth objectives domestically and internationally," said Varroney.

"I'm energized to be part of this outstanding organization which consistently provides real-time networking and corporate growth opportunities in an ever-changing global market." Since 2000, under Varroney's leadership, the association achieved record dues growth and strong cash flow during one of the most challenging periods for manufacturing.

He also served the association in several capacities with the Field Division in the western and midwestern United States, including grassroots programs, regional lobbying programs in Washington, D.C., new member development and overall supervision of major member growth and retention. Varroney's professional background also includes experience in the communications arena.

He worked as a reporter and newscaster for a number of New Jersey radio stations and was a staff correspondent for several New Jersey newspapers.

Currently, Varroney is an announcer for RadioMaxMusic.com, an Internet radio station. Varroney earned his B.A. degree in American History from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., in 1978, and completed an internship with then New York Senator James L. Buckley in the spring of 1976.

In May 2002, he completed the "Team Leadership and Effectiveness" program at the Yale School of Management in New Haven, Conn.

Varroney, of Palatine, Ill., serves as a Council Member for the Village of Palatine.

He and his wife Jeanine have three adult children.
